Bad
Credit Can Happen To Good People
Most people have experienced some type of
bad credit at some point in their lives.
You can get your credit back in shape.
But you have to start working on it today
and
keep working hard to show potential creditors
that you're serious about improving your
credit situation. Doing so, your credit
score will improve, and as a result lenders
will
be seeking you as a valued customer.
You Can
Have Good Credit!
Although there is no one magic system to
improving your credit, there are some basic
principles that, if followed, will drastically
improve your credit score.
Open new accounts and pay them off
The only way to remove bad credit is to replace
it with good credit! As long as the negative-credit entries on your file are valid,
you should not spend time trying to remove
them through "credit cleaning" programs.
They rarely work, and lenders are more
interested in your most recent credit history.
So by opening new accounts and maintaining
these accounts in good standing, you stand
the best chance of improving your credit!
Ask your lenders for help
Most lenders are willing to help their customers
in times of need. If you find yourself
in a situation where you are unable to
make a payment, call your lender and explain
the situation. Often times they will allow
you to send a partial payment or even skip
a payment without being reported to the
credit bureau! The worst they can say is
no, so ask!
Know what is on your report
Don't be caught off guard by something on
your report. Be prepared to explain the
circumstances surrounding previous credit
problems. Potential lenders will take into
consideration extenuating circumstances
and will often times overlook issues if
the explanation makes sense.
